Pete Baker and Pete Colbert will be continuing to host The Colbert Report, and Pete will be hosting The Daily Show on Comedy Central starting in January.
Both will be on the CBS Television Network.
Pete Baker said the show is something that he loves doing.
“The thing that I’m most proud of is that we get to do the most ridiculous things and the most funny things and be really good at what we do, and then we can’t stop there,” he said.
“We’re still not done, but we’ve just begun.”
Colbert added, “I have no idea what I’m going to do.
There’s nothing I can think of that I want to do.”
Colbert said he was “a little surprised” by the news, as he is “the biggest fan” of the show.
“I’m really, really proud of it,” he joked.
The two are joined on the Colbert Report by former Trump adviser Mike Murphy, who also hosts the show with Stephen Colbert.
Colbert said Murphy has “a very good understanding of what the news is.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of watching a number of shows with Mike,” Colbert said.
He added that Murphy is “a real professional” and “a terrific interviewer.”
Colberts comments are not surprising considering how close the two have come to becoming a family, as Murphy was the first person Colbert knew from the 2016 election.
Colbert joked, “He’ll be gone soon.”
He continued, “The fact that we’re still in a show with two of the most successful and accomplished people in this country is kind of exciting.
But the fact that this is a family and they’re all going to have a place to be together for the foreseeable future is really special.”
The two discussed the show’s upcoming debut and its potential future, including what’s next for the show, which is slated to debut in January 2018.
“There are a lot of things that I’ve got to get done before I get to say goodbye,” Colbert joked.
