Peter Pettigan is on the brink of his biggest acting breakthrough yet as he stars in the upcoming new season, which is based on the hit ABC show Peter Pettigans Petes.
The 30-year-old actor will play the role of Peter, a former Australian soldier who returns to his homeland to save his adopted cat from a mysterious disease that has ravaged his family.
Peter will return to Australia to help his adoptive family but finds his family are missing.
“Peter’s adopted cat is a bit of a bit late to Australia but he’s the last man to know about the disease and he’s looking to make a name for himself,” Mr Pettigan said.
“I’ve always loved cats and dogs so I knew it would be a big deal for me.”
He is playing Peter on the first series of the new series which will be released on Netflix on July 1.
“There are a lot of stories and characters that are based on Peter Pettigs books so it’s great to be a part of it and hopefully it will bring a little bit of happiness to people,” Mr Pettigan said of his new role.
The series will be based on Pettigans best-selling book Peter Pettigians Petes, which tells the story of Peter’s journey from his childhood in Tasmania, to his adoption by a local farmer and eventual career as a police officer.
Peter is an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fishing and to take pictures of his cat Pete.
He has had a long and proud relationship with his cat, Peter, but has been diagnosed with the mysterious disease.
“It was an accident,” he said.
“It was a bad accident that has happened to me and I don’t have the answers.”
Peter said he had no idea about the cat’s health and his family had been “living off the grid” for months.
“The people I’ve met have been really supportive and they’ve been really happy for me,” Peter said.
Peter is not the only actor involved in the new Peter Pettigo show.
“My favourite actor is actually my cousin who plays Peter,” he laughed.
“She’s a lovely, sweet, caring, sweet little girl,” he added.
